2025 Trial Results — Soybeans
Three rates tested in-furrow via FurrowJet® at planting. Every rate returned a positive net gain. GL production cost: AUD $0.03/L.

Three rates tested in-furrow via FurrowJet® at planting. Every rate returned a positive net gain. And the response was dose-dependent — more PAW in the furrow, more yield back.
At A$3.37/ha to treat at the highest rate, you're getting A$31.31/ha back.
That's a 9:1 return on input cost.
The Science Behind It Isn't New.
Plasma activated water has been studied in peer-reviewed research for over a decade. The consistent finding across multiple crops and institutions is that PAW (when applied at the right concentration) promotes germination, improves seedling vigour and boosts early plant growth.
A 2019 study on wheat (Kučerová et al., Plasma Processes and Polymers) found PAW improved germination parameters, photosynthetic pigment levels and antioxidant enzyme activity compared to untreated controls. https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1002/ppap.201800131
A 2020 study published in Scientific Reports found PAW-treated lettuce showed measurably higher dry weight, chlorophyll content and foliar area compared to controls — with the researchers concluding PAW represents a viable alternative to chemical fertilisers in agriculture. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-020-77355-w
Research on soybeans specifically — Lo Porto et al. (Innovative Food Science & Emerging Technologies, 2018) and Guragain et al. (Journal of Chemistry, 2021) — both found plasma activated water produced measurable improvements in germination and seedling growth compared to untreated controls. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ifset.2018.07.013 | https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1155/2021/7517052
The mechanism is consistent across the studies — PAW delivers reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS) directly to the seed or root zone, triggering physiological responses that accelerate germination and early growth.
Green Lightning produces those same species on your farm for A$0.03 a litre.
These studies used laboratory-produced PAW under controlled conditions. Results in field trials will vary. The PTI trial data on this page represents real farm performance.
Your Farm Makes the Fert.
Green Lightning PAW is produced on your own property using the Green Lightning machine — air and water passed through a gliding plasma arc to produce a liquid rich in Nitrogen and Oxygen compounds.
At A$0.03 per litre, the economics work at even modest yield responses. The 2025 trial data shows what's possible when placement is right.
This discussion assesses whether Green Lightning fits your current nitrogen program, cropping system, and logistics.
